For 35 years, as Vermont's largest non-profit financial institution, the Vermont Community Loan Fund (VCLF) provides loans and resources to businesses, nonprofits, community organizations, farms and food producers, child care providers, and developers of affordable housing.

Located in the small and beautiful capital city of Montpelier, Vermont, our mission-driven organization is looking for a Business Advisor to work with our lending team, and provide a variety of business and financial advisory services to our growing and diverse portfolio of clients throughout the state of Vermont.

A successful candidate will have had experience working in or for, small businesses in a variety of roles; a strong understanding of business accounting; ability to use spreadsheets and their basic functions; will enjoy building relationships and engaging with people from widely varied backgrounds; is passionate about social justice, whole community health, and thriving, financially stable businesses; is able to work efficiently and enthusiastically on their own and in a collaborative team setting; and embraces the merits of technology driven tools and resources as equally as the value of personal connection and conversation. Candidates who exhibit these qualities, but haven't worked as a business advisor, are encouraged to apply.

At VCLF, we value in-person interaction as a team, and we have put into place strict COVID-safe protocols. In addition, we have infrastructure put in place for remote meetings as needed.  Travel throughout the state is required under normal circumstances, and we continue to do so only when it is safe to meet with clients in person. In addition, there is flexibility in the schedule as there may be night and weekend hours on a case-to-case basis and/or for special events.

Diversity, justice, and inclusion are key values within VCLF. We are committed to building and sustaining an inclusive, equitable working environment for our staff. We believe every member of our team enriches our diversity by exposing us to a broad range of ways to understand and engage with the world, identify challenges, and to discover, design, and deliver solutions.

VCLF is an equal opportunity employer.  This position is a 40 hour per week, non-exempt position, with generous benefits, including health, retirement, and paid leave.  Beginning wage range is $22.00 to $27.00 per hour.
