Central Valley Community Foundation (CVCF) mission is to enable stronger communities through effective philanthropy, and we know many of the challenges facing our communities trace their roots to our region's chronically high rates of poverty and unemployment. Economic development and job creation have traditionally lain beyond the reach of charitable activity. However, to pursue its mission effectively, CVCF increasingly believes it must not only address symptoms, but causes - and that means supporting efforts to grow wealth in disadvantaged communities.
A national conversation in our industry is occurring along these same lines, and substantial philanthropic and other resources are seeking opportunities to contribute to community-based economic development. Already CVCF and a cohort of partners-Access Plus Capital, Opportunity Fund, Northern CA Community Loan Fund (NCCLF) have been awarded $5 million from JPMorgan Chase to develop the Fresno Community Capital Collaborative for Economic Mobility.
Managing CVCF's growing portfolio of work in this area will be the job of the Community Capital Manager. This exciting new position was posted today, and applications are being accepted now until filled. We ask for your assistance as we actively seek an applicant pool with diverse backgrounds and experiences. Please see the job description for application instructions, and share the word in your networks.
