    SVP Community Lending - Memphis, TN: Immediate Opportunity

    Pathway Lending is a 20 year old, nonprofit, community-based lender headquartered in Nashville, TN with team members located throughout our Alabama and Tennessee footprint. Pathway Lending provides small business, affordable multi-family housing and energy efficiency loans as well as hands-on technical assistance to small businesses. In 2019 we originated over $36 million and provided over 21,000 hours of education services.  Our team is busy and growing!

    We are looking for a passionate and experienced place-based lender with ties to the Memphis community and strong skills in launching/developing new markets. 
    This new position, the SVP Community Lending Memphis will focus on place-based community development, requiring a blended skill set of commercial real estate lending and small business lending. 

    The position will be expected to work closely with other Pathway Lending team members, be action-oriented, results-driven and enjoy working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The primary focus area for the SVP Community Lending is the Memphis Medical District.

    This role will:

    1. Serve as primary lender and relationship manager for place-based community development in the Memphis Medical District, utilizing all applicable financial products and educational services offered by Pathway Lending. Work with the EVP/CSO and SVP Chief Credit Officer to achieve loan growth and drive place-based community development.

     

    1. Develop and execute a focused, place-based marketing plan to grow new relationships and expand existing client relationships. Responsible for meeting loan goals and other organizational objectives.

     

    1. Obtain, underwrite, and analyze loan applications for commercial loans to support community/economic development projects. Perform due diligence, site inspections, appraisal review, financial statement and pro-forma credit analysis, and credit evaluations of potential borrowers. Prepare credit memos with supporting documentation, and present loans for review or approval.

     

    1. Partner with PL's community partner representatives (i.e. Memphis Medical District Collaborative) and technical assistance providers to deliver training services to prepare potential borrowers for the borrowing process.

     

    1. Work with the SVP Education to ensure that the advisory and educational services, i.e. WBC, VBOC, etc., offered through Pathway Lending are advanced appropriately to support community place-based strategies.

     

    1. Make presentations and participate in forums which inform the public and special audiences about the opportunities for the place-based development supported by Pathway Lending. Collaborate with the SVP Communications & Policy to develop marketing and promotional activities and materials.

     

    1. Assume responsibility for drafting and submitting stakeholder and portfolio compliance reporting requirements.


    Well qualified candidates meet this experience and skillset:
    Bachelor's Degree in business, finance or related field is required. 10+ years relevant experience in lending, finance and community development.

    Must have prior, successful experience in launching a market and a proven track record of delivery results. Also required is knowledge of financing products such as predevelopment, acquisition, construction, bridge and permanent loans; lines of credit; and tax credit equity. Must have experience with working with lower-income communities and with a community-based model of neighborhood revitalization. The position requires the ability to evaluate financial statements and identify financing opportunities to creatively solve problems. Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and to handle multiple priorities under time constraints. Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products and Salesforce.
