    Position Description
    Invest Detroit is in an exciting phase of growth and change and is seeking a Senior Loan Underwriter. As a nonprofit lender, this is a mission-critical role that supports our efforts to finance catalytic projects positively impacting Detroit communities. Primary responsibilities will include working with Invest Detroit lenders and prospective borrowers to complete due diligence and analysis of borrower needs and preparing underwriting packages for loan committee consideration including financial analysis and analytical narratives.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Work with lenders and prospective borrowers to complete due diligence and analysis of borrower needs, and to assist in underwriting and/or structuring loans
    • Prepare credit underwriting packages for loan committee consideration including financial analysis and analytical narratives
    • Prepare regular updates of the risk ratings for borrowers in a diverse portfolio
    • Monitor loan covenants and reporting requirements and bring any violations and deficiencies to management's attention
    • Prepare quarterly reporting to external partners
    • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree, with a concentration in finance or accounting, desired
    • Completion of a formal bank credit training program or up to 5+ years of equivalent experience in commercial banking and / or commercial real estate credit experience with financial analysis, credit structuring, and preparation of credit analysis in a variety of formats
    • Ability to analyze and underwrite financial statements for both commercial and real estate borrowers
    • Familiar with evaluating credit reports, real estate appraisals, and other due diligence materials
    • Competency with critical and analytical thinking, and ability to identify connections between issues and actions required to maintain credit quality and ensure continued compliance with credit risk policies and practices
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills, ability to multi task and function
    efficiently to meet organizational deadlines
    • Independent, self-directed and a self-starter, with an ability to work closely with all team members
    • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Products, particularly Word and Excel
