New Plan Learning, or NPL, is a 20-year-old non-profit organization that specializes in collaborative project management and charter school facility development and construction. We are looking for an ambitious and energetic Business Development Manager to help us expand our clientele. You will be the face of the company and will have the dedication to create and apply an effective sales and marketing strategy.
The goal is to drive sustainable financial growth through boosting sales and forging strong relationships with clients within the charter school industry. NPL is looking to find a BDM with a strong team-centric mentality who is passionate about supporting the charter school movement. NPL’s leadership team believes that all children deserve access to a high-quality free and public education within their community. They understand the challenges charter school leaders face when securing school facilities that provide a safe and secure learning environment.
NPL is looking for a Business Development Manager with 5+ years within the Charter School industry, preferably in a Sales Management role. The ideal candidate will be an expert networker and have a strong pipeline of Leaders, Executives, Principals and supplier contacts. Ideal candidates include Development Directors, Superintendents, principals or charter school leaders.
NOTE: The position will require 50-60% daily weekly travel including occasional overnight conferences.
Responsibilities for the Business Development Representative include:
Develop a growth strategy focused on gaining new clients in addition to becoming a ‘thought leader’ and trusted contact for those within the Charter School industry
Conduct research to identify new markets and customer needs
Arrange business meetings with prospective clients
Attend industry events and conferences (some overnight)
Prepare sales contracts ensuring adherence to law-established rules and guidelines
Provide trustworthy feedback and after-sales support
Requirements:
Proven working experience as a business development manager (sales executive or a relevant Leadership role) within the Charter School industry for 5+ years
Proven sales track record and experience in project management a plus
Real Estate experience and Construction knowledge also preferred.
Proficiency in MS Office and CRM software (e.g. Salesforce)
Proficiency in English
Market knowledge, communication and negotiation skills and the ability to build rapport with industry leaders is key
BSc/BA in business administration, sales or relevant field
Key Skills and Attributes:
Demonstrable knowledge of the Charter School environment and related policies and regulations within the industry
Strong past achievement record including quota attainment and exceeding sales objectives
Demonstrated ability to multi-task, extreme attention to detail, and ability to prioritize
Ability to successfully engage and interact with customers
Proficiency in digital applications and remote selling technologies (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Salesforce.com.)
Excellence in process management and organizational agility
