    Summary

    CDFI Friendly Tulsa is seeking a consultant to serve as its on-the-ground project coordinator during its start-up phase. This work is both administrative and organizational and requires local relationships, expertise, and experience.


    The consultant will contract with CDFI Friendly America, a Pennsylvania-based Benefit corporation. The consultant will work closely with CDFI Friendly America's Project Manager for Administration

    And will report to CDFI Friendly America's Founding Partner, who is serving as Project Manager for Strategy on this project.


    Organizational Description: CDFI Friendly Tulsa is a new, start-up organization that will bring access to affordable, fair capital to historically undercapitalized communities and people in Tulsa, with a primary focus on Black residents, entrepreneurs, developers, as well as Black-led nonprofits and other service businesses in North Tulsa. 


    Role Summary: The Coordinator will facilitate and support work to launch CDFI Friendly Tulsa by serving as a local administrator. Primary responsibilities include:


    • Providing operational and logistical support to the CDFI Friendly Tulsa team. The Team currently comprises CDFI Friendly America consultants.
    • Reaching out to and educating community stakeholders about CDFI Friendly Tulsa. This outreach will include setting up, convening, and managing meeting content and logistics.
    • Helping create informational materials and reports with a focus on making sure the materials will be effective in the marketplace.
    • Working closely with the CDFI Friendly Tulsa Project Manager and other CDFI Friendly America team members.

    This is a contract position for six months. The contractor we select must be based full-time in Tulsa. We estimate it will require approximately 150 hours per month.


    Starting in the spring of 2023, the role may be extended through 2023 as a contract role or as a staff position depending on project progress. 


    Primary duties will involve meetings with community leaders and/or members, local entrepreneurs, local officials, CDFI staff, and others; coordination with the CDFI Friendly America team for Tulsa (via zoom primarily, though team members will visit  Tulsa on a regular schedule); administrative coordination; seeking and responding to community inquiries and needs; and producing informational materials and reports.


    Responsibilities

    • Represent CDFI Friendly Tulsa in the local community and build knowledge and support for its work.  
    • Administer Monthly CDFI Friendly Tulsa Steering Committee meetings, including managing logistics, preparing some materials, and providing updates. Support the CDFI Friendly Tulsa team in developing outreach and marketing materials for potential partners and allies. 
    • Learn about and advance the role of Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) as a key strategy for addressing barriers to capital access for economically marginalized people and communities.
    • Support and report regularly to the CDFI Friendly Tulsa team and Steering Committee on progress.
    • Help launch and establish CDFI Friendly Tulsa as an effective and trusted local nonprofit.

      

    Qualifications


    • General organizational and operational experience is required.
    • Three to five (3-5) years of experience in affordable housing, community organizing, community economic development or closely related industry is valuable.
    • Effective project management skills are valuable
    • Experience working and/or living in North Tulsa as well as knowledge of key stakeholders and community leaders is required
    • Experience, ability, and comfort working remotely and with diverse stakeholders
    • Nonprofit or small business experience preferred
    • Working knowledge of Google Work Environment, including Google Docs; familiarity with Microsoft office suite programs.
    • Must have a current drivers license, a vehicle, and proof of car insurance

    Compensation: This is initially a six-month 1099 contractor position. We anticipate executing a contract for $30,000-$40,000 over that time period. This is a contract position; there are no benefits included.
