    POSITION OVERVIEW:
    The Director, Loan and Investment Ops is responsible for overseeing the operational activity of the Loan Portfolio & Social Investment Fund (SIF), which includes operational risk and performance management. This position provides leadership regarding people, systems and processes and will be responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives within the group.

    This position works in close collaboration with the Lending, Finance and Client Engagement teams to ensure operational priorities are aligned with strategic company goals, and service level targets are met.  Additionally, they will assist the VP of Operations in building operational capacity using technology and data to meet the demands of a growing organization. Other responsibilities will be assigned as needed.

    This role requires a participative manager who can switch between leading and doing seamlessly, extensive experience in managing an operations team, and demonstrated ability to

    take subjects from conception to completion independently. The role is fast paced and has the autonomy and authority to set the course and direction of these operational functions.

    Despite having our headquarters in San Francisco, RSF operates a mostly fully remote workforce and this position is 100% remote. This role does not require regular travel to the SF Bay Area, but may require infrequent (1-2 times per year) travel to the SF Bay Area or other locations for meetings.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Loan Operations:

    Loan Administration

    • Oversee all loan servicing activity for a rapidly growing loan portfolio which includes bi-lateral, agent and participation deals
    • Ensure the accuracy of operational set up, data integrity, and adherence to controls and procedures
    • Deliver accurate and timely transaction processing including loan draws, repayments, servicing fees, and client communications
    • Provide an excellent customer experience for borrowers, investors, and internal stakeholders
    • Coordinate effective and efficient post-closing, and collateral monitoring activities which includes loans in non-accrual, charge-offs or OREO (Other Real Estate Owned) status


    Deal Closings:

    • Manage assigned closing pipeline and preparation of commercial, real estate, and construction loan documentation
    • Work with multiple RSF Relationship Managers and other Underwriters on concurrent closing requests, including the potential for making 'last minute' modifications
    • Continually deepen commercial loan documentation knowledge and expertise
    • Advise on loan structures, comment on documentation, develop reporting and manage 3rd party relationship with legal counsel to ensure serviceability of transactions

    Social Investment Fund:

    • Oversee all fund activity, including operational set up, ensuring accuracy, adherence to controls and procedures
    • Deliver accurate and timely transaction processing including account opening, servicing fees, redemptions, quarterly distributions, and client communications
    • Oversee the production and dissemination of the prospectus, compliance documents, and investor notifications
    • Serve as a resource to internal sales, finance and investors for fund and account activity
    • Coordinate incoming phone and email inquiries from investors and financial advisors as well as targeted outbound communication strategies

     

     Operations Performance Metrics and Reporting:

    • Responsible for the Operations department metrics program, measuring the effectiveness of operations and technology
    • Ensure OKRs (Objectives and Key Results), and all project targets are achieved through rigorous tracking, identification and communication of risks, and issue resolution
    • Provide insights from reporting to increase operational performance, lower operational risk and increase profitability

    Compliance & Control:

    • Establish and maintain an advanced control environment which provides visibility into and mitigates operational risk
    • Stay abreast of changing legal regulations, industry trends, and product-specific issues
    • Conduct assessments and participate in audits to ensure department procedures are achieving accurate and desired results
    • Be accountable for the development and review of policies and procedures required to manage activities
    • Ensure proper segregation of duties, and develop and maintain workflows for all processes

    Process Improvement:

    • Lead projects and cross functional teams engaged in a wide range of business transformation initiatives
    • Establish a culture of continuous improvement which quantitatively improves operational efficiency, cost, and service
    • Be responsible for establishing, enhancing, and enforcing processes that use technology as an enabler
    • Develop employee training that supports system usage and process efficiency
    • Define system business requirements and participate in testing


    Managerial Responsibilities:

    • Be responsible for achieving desired business results and act as a senior point of escalation
    • Translate priorities into operating plans and manage team capacity
    • Be responsible for all staff administration activities such as time tracking, performance feedback and staff development
    • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality with all information obtained


    QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS


    Required Qualifications:

    • BA/BS or equivalent experience
    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Loan Operations
    • Minimum of 5 years recent experience building, leading, managing and coaching a team
    • Fluency in oral and written English
    • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required

     

    • Must be able to use a computer for extended periods of time up to eight hours per day
    • Able to work in a collaborative manner, solicit input and advice from others
    • Display strong critical thinking skills, comfort with ambiguity, and ability to problem solve
    • Proven experience and expertise with business transformation, system conversion and process improvements
    • Demonstrated ability to balance risk while achieving business goals
    • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize delivery for high impact
    • Experience in developing policies and procedures
    • Ability to analyze data for decision making

    Preferred Qualifications:  

    • 5+ years of experience in fund management
    • 5+ years of experience as a project manager
    • Ability to create and maintain a departmental budget
    • Knowledge of the following systems: NHS Loan System, Salesforce, Sageworks, LaserPro
    • Proficiency in data analytics, metrics analytics, business intelligence, and data visualization (including tools such as Tableau, Microsoft BI, SQL, and/or VBA)
